A fascinating 19th century wooden anatomical skeleton model, finely crafted in natural wood and retaining a warm, hand-polished grain throughout.
The articulated construction features original hand-forged iron wire loops together with brass articulation brackets, allowing the individual sections of the skeleton to move while also giving the piece a strong sculptural and mechanical character.
Originating from England, this unusual model would have likely been produced as an educational or anatomical study piece. Today, it makes a highly distinctive collector’s item and an exceptional decorative object for a study, library, medical collection, period interior or display setting.
Its combination of natural timber, aged metal fittings and detailed articulated construction gives the piece considerable character and visual interest.
