Victorian Carved Mahogany Double-Sided Cheval Mirror with Bevelled Glass

An elegant Victorian carved mahogany double-sided cheval mirror, finely detailed throughout and raised on an ornate free standing base.

The substantial rectangular mirror plate is surrounded by a richly moulded mahogany frame with beaded inner detailing and a decorative pierced crest centred by a carved shell and foliate motif. The shaped side supports incorporate flowing scrollwork and carved floral details, giving the piece a strong Victorian / Rococo Revival character.

The mirror is double sided, making it practical as well as decorative, with bevelled glass to both faces. It is supported on a robust freestanding frame with broad scrolling feet and carved foliate embellishment, allowing the piece to stand securely while retaining an elegant, sculptural appearance.
