An impressive Victorian mahogany combination billiards and Life Pool scoreboard, dating from the late 19th century and designed for use in a traditional billiards room or private club.

Constructed in rich mahogany, the scoreboard features a central slate writing panel, flanked by twelve individual Life Pool scoring slides. The slides incorporate rounded ivory or ivorine-style buttons together with decorative mother-of-pearl inlay, providing both a practical scoring system and attractive period detailing.

Above and below are numbered scoring rails used for billiards scoring, retaining their original sliding markers. The twelve-player Life Pool arrangement allowed each participant to keep track of their remaining lives during play, a format commonly incorporated into higher-quality Victorian billiards-room furniture. Similar period examples were produced by renowned makers including Burroughes & Watts and Thurston & Co.

A highly decorative piece of Victorian sporting furniture, with attractive aged mahogany, original-style scoring fittings and considerable character. Ideal for a traditional games room, private club, bar, hotel interior or specialist billiards collection.
